Fashion is to be celebrated — you have forever believed this, always knew that design was to be named a value. And the trends of the past are not to be forgotten in the present. They are instead, you’re certain, to be utilized. The purpose is to rediscover what was once relevant and tame it to modern standards. It’s a challenge many would refuse; but you have always proven yourself willing to try. And you often succeed, you assume. After all, you understand all styles and sensibilities. You can let them mix and meet.
Those meetings don’t always offer an advantage, however. They instead provide a mockery.
Trends are to be recognized as essential. They reflect the change of times and fashions. Typically, however, they fade — their purpose has a short life-span and a quick expiration. Most understand this. You, however, are determined to keep your favorite years in the public eye. You choose the best styles; you blend the differing decades together. The intention is to prove yourself aware of fashion.
You only prove to be a distraction, though.
Mixing trends is never easy. It requires an understanding of fabric and subtlety — which can be elusive. You may enjoy the designs of the 1970’s and 1980’s. This does not mean you should drench yourself in leather jackets, bell-bottom jeans and wild hair, however. You would not appear wise. You would instead only seem scattered.
When choosing a past trend to follow, you must limit it to a singularity. Do not couple it with other decades or styles. The purpose of fashion is to accentuate your body. You will only obscure it, however, when you tug on statement after statement. These designs will battle with each other, trying to steal all attention; and the result will be confusion.
Select trends that compliment each other (being from the same year) and avoid excess. Moderation is a necessity, not an option. Remember to use it.
