The Theme Party Advantage: Fashion

It’s another failed attempt at excitement, the slow shatter of thrills — you watch your guests gather near the door, all waiting for the clock to reveal an acceptable hour (they can’t flee too early, after all. They must instead count the polite seconds). A party has offered no rewards: the decorations are limp along the walls; the catering is a disaster; and your friends are all styled in the various trends. None understood that this was to be an elegant affair. They arrived instead in faded denim and causal cotton, leaving you suddenly awkward in your stilettos and pearls.

This is not what you intended for an evening — and you’re beginning to realize that you should’ve offered a direction all could easily follow.

A theme party (specifically one celebrating fashion, indulging in your need for style) provides undeniable advantages. Too often are these ideas ignored, thought to be hassles of planning and effort; but they instead provide convenience. You can have an event that all will enjoy, simply by narrowing your focus and insisting on participation.

Consider these rewards of a theme:

One: Organization. You’re forever fumbling with ideas, trying to create perfection from disparate concepts. It’s not simple. A theme, however, allows it to be. By redirecting your energy to a specific point (such as 70’s design or 90’s apparel), you can more clearly understand what you need. All elements can be considered and charted out quickly.

Two: Guest Ease. Too often have your parties faltered because guests didn’t realize what was required of them. With a fashion theme, however, they will recognize what they are to do. There will be no confusion or mistakes.

Three: Unexpectedness. You have been to the dull affairs, the tedious celebrations. You refuse to offer yet another to the collection. A theme is chosen to bring vitality to the notion of a party and mark it worthy.

Avoid the common mistakes. Choose a fashionable alternative instead.
