It should be such a simple thing — you wish to offer your friends the chance to explore the previous decades, to become part of the once familiar trends. A party is to be planned (with every detail understood, every need met). You’ll create an event like no other, ensuring that all guests are given an easy experience. It won’t demand too much of your time: you already have so many of the fashions tucked away in your attic. Finding the right outfit won’t require more than a simple search. And others, you’re certain, will have the same convenience. So you send out the invitations, promoting a quick deadline. It should be no concern.

It is.

Because few individuals have the same collection of styles and designs that you do. They don’t have 1970’s platforms hidden beneath stacks of leather and fishnets. They merely have the current trends — and this leaves them scrambling to meet your expectations.

A fashion theme is always welcome among party-goers. It’s the opportunity to relive those childhood moments, to rediscover the fun of dressing up. The one complication with this, however, is that few individuals have a readily available supply of clothes. They don’t hoard the past, keeping it for occasions like this. They must instead seek it out.

And this means that your fast approaching party can become a source of much frustration.

It’s vital therefore that you offer enough time for guests to secure their outfits. It’s not an easy thing to search through the shops and boutiques, trying to find styles that match both the party requirements and the individual’s own comfort demands. Days will be needed — if only to spare everyone the horrors of renting costumes, worrying always if they’ll suffer from stains or tears.

Be certain you provide (at least) one month of notice for your friends. Allow them to create the looks they want, without worry for the deadline they must meet.
